The MissionShawn Smith is a Christian who is driven by an exciting mission: To share the Good News of God's grace in Christ through music, humor, personal stories of faith and, perhaps most importantly, in his everyday walk with the Lord. Who Is Shawn Smith?Shawn Smith is a full-time, performing songwriter and keynote speaker. Shawn has produced and recorded seven studio albums of original music and many live recordings over the past 15 years of ministry. An active road-man, Shawn has toured through nearly every state in the U.S., and performs dozens of concerts and key-note talks per year at churches, youth gatherings, conferences, schools, camps and colleges. Shawn currently lives with his wife in West Palm Beach, FL. The Dude
Shawn Smith is a Theatre Education graduate of the University of Michigan,
holding minors in Music and Computer Science. Throughout college, Shawn toured
and recorded with many different vocal, instrumental music, comedy, and theatre
performing groups. With his Christian band Project
G.O.D., Shawn did 4 national summer tours, performing countless concerts and
regional youth gatherings. Together, Shawn and Project G.O.D. wrote and recorded
5 albums of original music. In 2006, after a mission to work at an orphanage in Guatemala, Shawn began to travel monthly to the city of Antigua, Guatemala to study Spanish, and court a beautiful teacher that he met at the orphanage. (An incredible leap of faith for both, since neither spoke one word of each other's language). After two years, tons of patience, and thousands of frequent flier miles, Shawn and Damaris learned each other's languages, led two more missions together in Guatemala, and got married. Following the the Guatemalan wedding, Shawn moved to Guatemala, commuted monthly to gigs in the U.S. for six months, until Damaris was awarded her visa, and Shawn and his new bride could move back to his home in South Florida. Today, Shawn can be found boarding a plane on most weekends bound for a youth
gathering, conference, or series of concerts somewhere in the US to share his
music and stories of faith. In the summer months, you’ll find Shawn either on
the road touring camps, churches, festivals and gatherings, or overseas on a
mission trip leading a group of teenagers and adults building or repairing homes
and schools, and serving children living in extreme poverty. When not working, you'll probably find Shawn spending time with his lovely wife Damaris, and doing domestic things like, "working around the house" (a surprisingly fun, new activity since getting married). Or, you may find Shawn on the volleyball court, tennis court, rollerblading, biking, or snorkeling at a nearby reef. Or you may find Shawn studying Spanish, reading his favorite non-fiction book, attending a local Bible study, playing music with friends, watching a behind-the-scenes DVD commentary, listening to NPR, or watching C-SPAN, PBS, Food Network, or channel surfing and trying to catch up on TV culture (since he didn’t own a TV until 2009). Or, you just may catch Shawn at a local bagel shop or sushi bar somewhere on the Treasure Coast.
